Methamphetamine has recently come up to be a very big player in the substance abuse market. Gone are the days when heroin and cannabis and other substances made up for a major chunk of the substances used during rave and other drug induced parties.

So where did methamphetamine come from? And what makes it such a big rage in the drug market?Methamphetamine is a psycho-stimulating drug. It actually has some medicinal qualities. For example, methamphetamine, or meth as it is usually called, is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It is also used to treat obesity and narcolepsy.

While these are the legal uses of Meth, it is used illegally for weight loss, and also to maintain alertness, motivation and mental clarity for extended periods of time. Meth is also known to cause an increased sexual drive in people, as well as making them more open minded towards sex. Therefore, meth users may lose their sexual inhibitions once they take meth. Meth is highly addictive drug, more addictive than any other, actually. One can become a meth addict even if they use it just once in a lifetime. Meth is used illegally for drastic weight loss.

There are quite a few side effects of meth. Dentists now have to deal with that they call a meth mouth. It is noted that individuals who use meth face a sudden and drastic loss of teeth. However, it is not completely proved that this is due to meth. Some dentists are of the thought that though there are other reasons, the usage of meth may cause situations which would lead to the sudden dropping of teeth.
